The majority
of these events are 'Mini-Ship Shows' - for collectors of 1/1200 &
1/1250 scale ship models to meet, buy and swop. There will usually be
booksellers, dealers in collectables & ephemera, etc., present and
sometimes there will be a 'demonstration' wargame. Other events are advertised
as 'Ship Shows' and although model dealers may be present it is not guaranteed
that there will be. I have attempted to be accurate in this but, if in
doubt, check with the organiser!

(UK Dealers also attend other 'Collectors Fairs' - please contact them direct for details of these)

This page
is provided free by Tim Hudson of 'Photrek' - it has no connection with
any other UK supplier or dealer. I organise the events at Welton &
Mappleborough Green, whilst the others are organised by my good friends
at Waterline Ship Enthusiasts. If you have been brought here by a link
to this site from another event - please remember - its not one of mine!
Some of these shows are some distance ahead, but you can be reasonably certain that the 2008 events will take place. You are asked to respect the copyright of this page. |
(As much for my own interest as anything I'm putting together a retrospective list of 'Ship shows' in the UK TJH 31/12/2006)

(Dates
given are as advised: some items have been deleted as the organisers
are no longer able to proceed with them. If in doubt, please check with
the organiser to confirm that they are still current. Maps are compiled
using postcodes provided: unfortunately there can be errors on these
maps - possibly the building is on the other side of the road).
The events at Portishead and London (OLS) are not specifically 'Mini-Ship Shows' but I'm sure that enthusiasts in our scale will find much of interest. |

('Welton
Shows' are scheduled for the last Sunday in July and 3rd Sunday in October;
Mappleborough Green was a 'new' event in 2007 but is 'penciled in' for
the first Sunday in April, unless Easter falls on that day)

A note to clarify a possible misunderstanding: the events at Theale, Wellow, Tickenham (and Gosport) are organised by 'Waterline Ship Enthusiasts' and those at Welton & Mappleborough Green by myself. We are independent of each other. No other person or dealer has any control or input (financial or otherwise) over these events. 'Waterline Ship Enthusiasts' and myself have many years experience of organising these events, which we would like to consider as 'events organised by enthusiasts for enthusiasts'. TJH 25/01/2007. The 'Nautical events' held at Gravesend, and organised by Michael Hayes ('Saxon') are now finished, due to Michael's retirement. UK 'At Homes' There has long been a habit in the UK of descending on the homes of like minded collectors and discussing, selling or swopping your models, etc. On the basis of 'Small is Beautiful' there may be a number of these events at addresses in the UK in 2006. I will post details as I know about them, but I held an event at my place in Lincoln on Sunday 26th March. Seven people turned up - five sent apologies. It was worth doing. If you're interested please contact me direct for details. Please note that these events will possibly (probably) be 'Enthusiast orientated' and the presence of major (or any) dealers shouldn't be assumed. |
In Europe:
Monthly, on the 3rd Saturday, in Antwerp (fuller details to follow)
Pictures from Kassel 2007 - with Thanks to Peter Ohm
In the United States:
On the West Coast Chris Daley hosted an event onboard the 'Jeremiah O'Brien' on the 31st March 2007 and I understand that it will be repeated in 2009. Please contact Chris direct for further details.
Tom Haughton & John Olsen again organised & hosted the New York Show in May 2006, which was very successful. This will be repeated in May 2008.
