Whilst sorting out some papers I came across this poster for the first 'Welton Mini-Ship Show' (although we called it a 'meet' in those days, and it was 'Lincoln'). The list of dealers isn't complete - I think we had Martin Brown, and certainly David Vanner, Roy Measday, the World Ship Society, and Bob Fage, and possibly Adrian Nash and Mike Costello. The 'Front of House' was managed (I think) by Barbara Harman and (if Martin was there) by Frank Brown. Catering for this event was done by the 'Village Hall Ladies'.
The frigate is, of course, the Type 61 Aircraft Direction Frigate HMS Lincoln, which has become the logo of the show. I also used the previous HMS Lincoln [WWII 'four-stacker'], the 'Ton' class sweeper HMS Wilton (play on words!), and the SAN ship Vrystaat (ex-RN HMS Wrangler - adopted by Lincoln in World War Two). I also had plans to use HMS Barholm - another Lincolnshire location.
Apologies for the rather poor reproduction.
