‘Arrowhead Models’ – “Grand Fleet’’ (Kits in 1/1200 scale)
Unfortunately, as of 3rd December 2025, this range has closed: as of this moment I do not know the future of the ship models, other than that the new owner does not wish to continue with them. A sad loss.
This is a new range of 1/1200 scale kits of RN ships of the First World War period and was also planned to include modern RN Destroyers & Frigates. Described as ‘of Navis/Neptun quality’ the range has had some production problem and was not as ‘prolific’ as hoped. A limited number of new models are now being produced. It is my intention to keep the range in stock.

‘Clydeside Models’ kits in 1/1200 from this ‘classic’ range with new items being added. I regret to report the death, in June, 2020 of Bill Gilpin – it is possible that the range may be restarted in the future – further info to be added (or contact TJH direct). TJH 30/11/2021
Update: Following lengthy discussions with the gentleman who has purchased the name & materials it appears that little can be done to salvage the range: a great pity. Photograph’s exist of Bill’s workbench before his death – the feeling is that the contents went as ‘waste’ and are lost. A great pity. TJH 21/10/2023

RN & RCN Flower class corvettes – a range covering many variants of this numerous class. John says: ‘ When I did the series of V&W destroyers, I remarked that by 1939 every ship had some feature that differed it from her classmates.
The same is as true with corvettes. They were built in batches by British and Canadian yards, completing from 1940 t0 1944 in many large and small yards.
Originally intended as coastal escorts and minesweepers, they became deep ocean escorts. This called for a continuous series of updates to the design and retro fitting of existing ships. These improvements were not applied consistently.
The ships built in Canada were slower to adopt these improvements and refits were less consistent. The following series of models attempts to demonstrate these variations for both British and Canadian navies. To the greatest extent possible, I have used visual and textual references as a guide’.
These models are priced at£6.00 each. A list giving the details of the individual models is available, on request, to convoy@photrek.co.uk
